Book Club

Books, honest conversations and good company for women navigating divorce and everything that comes after.

Divorce can change far more than your relationship status. It can leave you questioning your confidence, your plans and even who you are now.

This book club is a place to explore those questions alongside other women who understand.

Each month, we’ll read a book connected to:

Divorce

Identity

Boundaries

Relationships or building a life that feels like yours.

Then we’ll come together to talk about what it brought up, what we agree with and what we might want to do differently.

You don’t need to have all the answers. You just need to be curious about what comes next.

How the founding season works

Our first season runs for three months. We’ll explore one book each month, with two live online gatherings per book:

  • A relaxed midway check-in to share first thoughts

  • A longer end-of-month conversation guided by Kate

Before each meeting, you’ll receive a few questions to help you reflect. You can join the conversation whether you’ve read every page, listened to the audiobook or only made a start.

We’ll keep the group small, with up to 12 women, so there is room for everyone who wants to speak. Sharing is always a choice; listening is participation too.

Founding season dates: 1st, 15th, 29th November 2026 @7pm
Where: Online
Founding season price: £45 for all three months
Books: Members buy or borrow their own copies

What we’ll explore

The reading list will take us from making sense of change to reconnecting with ourselves and considering the life ahead. We may explore questions such as:

  • Who am I outside the roles I’ve held for other people?

  • How do I rebuild trust in my own decisions?

  • What boundaries would make everyday life feel easier?

  • What might friendship, independence and love look like now?

The books give us a starting point. There is no “right” response to a chapter and no pressure to be further along in your recovery than you are.

Why join?

  • Feel less alone. Meet women who understand that life after divorce can be complicated, hopeful, exhausting and surprising, sometimes all in one week.

  • Make space for yourself. Set aside time each month to read, reflect and hear perspectives beyond your own day-to-day worries.

  • Find words for what you’re experiencing. A passage or conversation can help you recognise a feeling you haven’t yet been able to explain.

  • Take something into real life. You’ll leave each month with an insight, question or small step that matters to you.

  • Enjoy reading again. This is a book club, so there’s room for lively opinions, humour and the pleasure of a good read as well as deeper conversations.

Is this for me?

You’re welcome if you’re separating, divorced or still working out what life afterward looks like. You might be newly on your own or several years further along. You don’t need to be a coaching client, and you don’t need to consider yourself a big reader.

Kate will guide the discussion as a divorce coach and author, but the club is a shared reading space rather than therapy, legal advice or individual coaching. We’ll agree on simple group guidelines so members can speak with respect and care. You can always pass on a question or step away when you need to.

A few practical questions

  • Do I have to finish every book?

No. Come along with whatever you’ve read or listened to. We’ll make space for people at different points in the book.

  • Are the books included?

No. You can buy, borrow or listen to each month’s selection in a format that suits you.

  • Will meetings be recorded?

No. To help members feel comfortable sharing, live group conversations won’t be recorded.

  • What happens after three months?

We’ll ask founding members what they enjoyed and whether they would like the club to continue. There is no automatic renewal attached to this first season.

  • So why pay for a book club?

The right books, chosen for a reason. There will be a connection with each read to a topic women are facing after divorce, rather than leaving them to sort through endless recommendations.

A conversation they might not have elsewhere. Friends can be supportive, but may not understand identity loss, co-parenting or the loneliness that follows separation.

Kate's facilitation. Useful questions will be asked, room made for quieter members and help the group move beyond simply retelling painful experiences.

A reason to make time for yourself. Six scheduled meetings over three months creates a gentle commitment to moving forwards.

Connection with the same small group. That continuity is likely more valuable than a large, open online forum and new friendships may be forged.

About Kate

I’m Kate Schenk, an author and divorce coach based in Shropshire. Through my book REBUILD: The Divorce Recovery Workbook and my coaching, I help women move from surviving divorce towards a more confident, independent life.

I created this club because rebuilding can feel lonely. Books can open a conversation; sharing that conversation with other women can make it much richer.
